Charlotte sat on the clean cut lawn that lies in front of the entrance to the castle. There were plenty of things that Charlotte could be doing, as a seventh year and on the verge of taking her N.E.W.Ts, she should probably be working on some assignment, or studying. The only problem was, how much she despises school work of any kind.
She stretched out her legs in front of her and leaned back on her arms. It was cold outside, sunny, but there was a very cool breeze that came straight onto Charlotte. Fortunately for her, she was wearing very warm muggle clothing. It was Saturday, and school uniforms weren't required today. That was a good thing, Charlotte hated those uniforms.
Charlotte sighed as she thought about everything that's been going on recently. She realized that she may have feelings for one of her best friends, Jackson, and she knew for a fact that he didn't feel the same way, she'll just have to get over it. Soon, she hopes.
Charlotte watched as younger students ran around outside, acting on the fact that it was in the dead of winter and they had one of those rare sunny Saturdays. Charlotte thought about how she used to spend days like this with her sister, Averie. Well, that was before she became a slytherin and started avoiding Charlotte and all of there other siblings.

Ellis had been locked in the boys dorm for most of the morning. Trying to finish off an assignment for herbology. He was never an encyclopedia of plants and sometimes confused one herb with another. He really couldn't care much about the subject but he had to since he had taken on the class and his father wanted him to do more than well in school. Luckily for Ellis his father was actually knowledgeable in plants and had given him a few helpful books before he started his sixth year. Some were actually an interesting read but most discussed things that he hadn't even heard off throughout his time at hogwarts.
"Finally done" Ellis said as he as shoved his things away then left the common room. He strolled down to the lawns, making sure to walk in the stalky path no one dared to take; it was longer and rocks were always placed in the most random places, but at least it was quiet and empty. Near his destination point, Ellis passed by a lot of people, some older and some younger than him. All walking in packs, looking over their shoulders scared and peering at others viciously, all the while Ellis moved about unnoticed. He wasn't anybody to be feared, he only guessed they acted that way because they thought they saw victims or hunters. "So simple and yet so time consuming, ever so boring and usual...and one more year of this...then what?" He thought and moved further away from the castle sighing to himself, growing tired of his existence and of others.
It was cold but not freezing yet. He thought about going to the lake instead since his mood was turning blue again but instead he shook his head and rolled his eyes at himself, he knew he felt slightly numb. What and where he was, is just what he wanted all along "It's what I want, isn't it? Getting reasonable grades and somewhat social...simple life at home.." He said to himself and bit the side of his lip. He didn't want to wonder, he hated thinking it over. It made him feel human, needy, unlike himself. He ran his hand through his hair, clearing his thoughts. Sighing to himself, he started to feel better for an unknown reason. He let his feet do the leading and soon he was by the lawns. Ellis saw a girl there before, he had never spoken to her but he had seen her around here and there. Curiosity arising had him walking towards her, she seemed pensive. He sat down next to her and said "Hello"

The boy sat down next to Charlotte and acknowledged her. That was, well, that was....strange. Most people only kept to themselves, or with whoever they were already familiar with. Charlotte took in her company's appearance and was aware of the fact that he was Slytherin, he was also a tad younger than she was as well. Probably only a year or so though.
Charlotte smiled at him, "Hey," she said in reply. Normally, she would keep a good distance between herself and any other Slytherin that was around, she just didn't like the sort of company they kept. "I'm Charlotte," she told him, introducing herself. She's always hated her name, she doesn't know why, she just...did.
Charlotte moved so that she was sitting straight with her legs crossed in front of her. She wrapped her arms around herself, despite her coat, she was still a little chilly. Charlotte looked at the odd boy. Charlotte was Hufflepuff, didn't Slytherins generally hate hufflepuffs? This boy was interesting, which is the main reason that Charlotte just didn't get up and leave, she wanted to figure him out.
