DUSK FELL, AND Lily's shadow grew long as she hurried up the stairs to the hospital wing, a plate of food balanced precariously on her palm, hoping that no one had seen her leave the Great Hall. Most students were gathered there for supper after the big Quidditch match - Slytherin versus Hufflepuff - and from her position at the Gryffindor table beside her brothers (who were still taunting poor Scorpius and imitating that horrible bludger hit), Lily had seen that most of the Slytherin team was there. She would have waited until the few that were missing returned, in case they were in the hospital wing at that very moment, but it was getting late and if she had waited any longer, she would have been confined to the common room as curfew would have passed. And, seeing as she hadn't spoken to Scorpius Malfoy all day, save for a few rushed wishes of luck as she passed him on the way to the Quidditch pitch, this would probably be her only chance to. Plus, he had taken quite a hit in the face, and she wanted to make sure he was all right.
Not because she cared or anything. Or, at least, that would be what she would say if anyone else were in the hospital wing when she arrived there. Because truthfully, she did care - a lot.
Lily was worried sick. At least Scorpius had won his house the match, though. Even if he had to pay for it with a broken nose and a probably a few bruises. She knew that he probably would be angry with himself if he had gotten injured and lost them the game. But then again, he was an exceptional player. One lost game wouldn't lose Slytherin the house cup. (Until, of course, their match against Gryffindor - despite her ties to Scorpius, Lily still remained loyal to her House when she had to.) He was probably hungry, though, and thus she had brought him some food.
She stumbled up the last few steps, her red curls bouncing behind her, and bumped into the door to the hospital wing, nearly tipping the steak and mashed potatoes on the plate over. At this point, she steadied herself against the door and peeked through the crack, listening for voices and looking for any movement inside the room. She couldn't see anything from where she stood, and she was fairly certain that the coast was clear - that she, a Potter, wouldn't be caught alone with a Malfoy - so she opened the door a bit and slipped through, shutting it quietly behind her in hopes that no one else would come up to visit Scorpius while she was there. If they did, though, she could concoct a fairly good excuse - a teacher had asked her to bring Scorpius some food, etc. - but she would probably have a hard time saying it without stuttering. Even so, no one was there now, so she stepped into the room.
Scorpius looked very much the part of an angel, with his fair hair and his eyes closed as he rested peacefully on the bed, the pre-dusk light filtering in through the curtains and hitting his face at such an angle. Lily wasn't sure if he was awake though, so she set the plate gently on the table beside his bed, a small smile settling on her lips - he appeared to be all right, and so she was appeased for the moment. As she turned to leave, however, she saw that his eyes had opened, and she smiled more broadly, glad that she would be able to talk to him without anyone else around. "Hey," she said, settling herself into a chair beside his bed. "How are you feeling?"

LILY WATCHED IN concern as Scorpius propped himself up against his pillows, ready to pop up and help if he expressed any need of aid or any feeling of pain. He seemed all right at the moment, though, so she sat back in her chair, but remained ready to get up. "A bit like a punching bag," he replied with a grin, and Lily smiled sympathetically.
"Aww," she replied, wincing slightly as she remembered the sight of him falling off his broom. "That sounds... unpleasant." And, indeed, it did. In fact, it sounded more unpleasant than 'unpleasant,' but that was the only word she could think of at the time, and so she used it. She was glad that he would get better, though - Madame Pomfrey could mend any physical wound, and Lily had full faith that Scorpius would regain health sooner or later - hopefully sooner.
A small creak brought her attention to the door, but it seemed to be just a draft, as the door had barely moved. If someone came, she would have to leave - and quickly, too. But no one was there, so she could spend more time with Scorpius. It seemed like it had been such a long time since she had been alone with him, or even spoken to him without prying ears around. Although, this certainly was not the circumstances under which she wanted to meet him - it would have been a lot nicer if he wasn't injured and hadn't just taken a bludger to the face and fallen off his broomstick.
Lily's eyes flickered to the door again once more, just to make sure no one was coming.
"I brought you some food," she added, gesturing toward the plate on the table beside his bed. She wasn't sure if he was hungry or not, but, knowing that he probably hadn't eaten much before the match, she figured that he probably would be.

, he nodded at her remark and shrugged his shoulders in a offhand kind off way ”I was out of it before I’d hit the floor”, realising that the experience probably had looked a lot worse from her point of view then it had from his, Scorpius offered up another smile. ”I’m fine really. Just wish I’d been there for the end of the match” He followed her eyes to the doorway as the creak travelled across the room. Glad to see that it was nothing more then a breeze pushing on the door, or perhaps just the castle itself making odd noises as he didn’t want Lily to have to leave. They’d had so little time together recently, with the upcoming exams and the constant requests of friends of team mates wanting extra hours revision, practice or just time to lounge around had meant they hadn’t been able to meet properly for weeks. Resulting in corresponding by owls and notes left inside books between lessons. He found the whole experience rather tiring and was glad for a chance to just sit here peacefully here with her. Even if he’d had to sacrifice a broken nose for the chance. ”I brought you some food” she gestured towards the plate on his bedside table and Scorpius could have kissed her for it. Lily always seemed to know what he wanted. Gratefully he took up the plate and had a forkful of mash. ”Thanks Lils, I’m straving [/ul][/blockquote]

A SMILE SPREAD upon Lily's lips again, as she watched him eat. She knew that he wouldn't have eaten before the match. He rarely did. But she was glad that he was all right nonetheless. And now, watching him shovel food into his mouth, she realized that they hadn't really hung out in a while. The reason for this was obvious, of course, but she found that she missed him.
The light filtering through the window shone on Scorpius's face, making him appear to glow in the sunset, and she looked out toward the window. The lake was shimmering in the distance, the sun reflecting off it's surface and sending rays of red light across the sky.
"You know..." Lily started to say, still gazing into the distance. "We haven't really hung out in a while. I'm starting to miss you." She knew, of course, that they couldn't hang out where people would see them - that would send the entire balance of the school off, a Slytherin and a Gryffindor, a Malfoy and a Potter, no less.
A moment after saying it, however, she realized it probably had sounded stupid. They both knew very well that there were only certain times they could hang out.

Scorpuis put down his fork, placed his plate on the bed side table and for a few moments considered her. Lily Potter, as she sat there with that constant defiant look that seemed to always play across her features as if she was questioning the very reason for your existence and you were failing to provide her with a satisfactory answer. She has always been rather headstrong and Scorpius loved her for it but when it came to the two of them defiance of the social norm could land them in a lot of trouble. He followed her gaze across the room, out the window and into the distance as it was lit with those last few moments of pink sunlight before they would be suddenly plunged into darkness and the nurse would be out to light the lamps which surrounded them and (hopefully) state he wasn’t going to suddenly fall down dead and was free to leave. He drew his gaze away from the window and back to her as she sat there â€I’ve really missed you to†he replied almost in a whisper since there conversation had seemed to become softer as the light did. Scorpius wondered if Lily would stay with him when the nurse came out of her office.[/ul][/blockquote]
