LILY PROBABLY SHOULD have been doing something a bit more productive. Like, studying for her potions test the following day, or finishing up that essay for charms. Instead, she found herself moving along the hallowed halls of Hogwarts, through one of the side doors into the courtyard. It was dusk, probably less than an hour until night fell, but still a few people lingered there, each in their own respective groups, mostly sorted by Houses - the people that they considered their closes friends at Hogwarts. Lily had always thought it odd that people seemed to always stick with the same people - with the friends they had made in first year. No one ever bothered to meet new people, especially not in other Houses. Lily was mostly the same, but she got along with mostly everyone - 'mostly' being the key word. There were still some Slytherins who despised her because of her parentage. But she didn't mind - after all, if they were too ignorant to see her for her, then why should she bother to try to become friends with them?
Lily yawned, stretching her arms above her head. She was kind of tired. It had been a long day of classes and extra work she needed to finish up. She couldn't fall behind in her classes too much; after all, it was her O.W.L. year, and she had to do well. These tests were preliminary in deciding her future. They would narrow down her choices, take off those that wouldn't work for her, and help her decide what to do with her life. They were important. Very important. But, among hanging out with friends and trying to finish her homework and secretly meeting Scorpius, she barely had time to put in any extra studying.
The petite girl shook her head slowly, her flaming red curls bouncing about her shoulders as she took in the sight of the courtyard, the few people there dwindling inside to a waiting dinner or their common rooms, where a fire would be burning, warm and welcoming. Lily wasn't very hungry at the moment, so she hopped up on one of the low walls encasing the courtyard, taking in the sight of the budding daffodils and green grass wet with the day's rain. The sight of the courtyard had become something that Lily had memorized, as she had found herself wandering there, among other places, all too often. It was one of those things she could do so often but never tire of.
As the last of the people cleared out of the courtyard, Lily raised her brown eyes up to the fading twilight, where the sky lay spread out like dusty purple-blue velvet. A light scattering of shining stars had begun to appear, and at the present moment, the young Potter was perfectly content just sitting there and watching them.

THALIA NARROWED HER EYES as the words on the book page blurred. She'd been studying all day for her O.W.L.s and had almost finished rereading her potions book by the end of the day. Although potions wasn't her weakest subject she still wanted to be prepared and not forget anything during the exam. Blinking twice she reopened her eyes, attempting to focus on words that still spun in her vision. Frustrated, she slammed the book closed and stood up. The Slytherin common room swam on the rims of her eyesight, the large leather armchairs and the blazing green fire didn't seem to be their at all. The one thing that she was able to focus on was the vast stone wall she would use to exit the common room. Striding forward, the stone wall moved aside and she ascended the stone stairs up toward the Entrance Hall.
Thalia had to get away from all this schoolwork, she even had to get away from the school. This whole place was giving her a migraine, she needed some fresh air. So after climbing the stairs from the dungeons, she directed her feet for the open grounds and proceeded to walk out of the stuffy school and into the dimming afternoon sky. Not paying much attention to her surroundings or the students passing her by, something caught her eye. Her heart jolted like it had been tasered as she caught the eye of the person. The dark haired boy stood near the staircase in the Entrance Hall, accompanied by another fifth year Slytherin girl. Catching her eye, Alex gave her a disgruntled grunt and returned his head back to talk to his girlfriend, Lacey Darc. Medium sized with pale skin, Lacey Darc had had a crush on Alex since our first year. Lacey had never really gotten along with Thalia at all, let alone after Alex chose Thalia over the "said to be perfect" Lacey Darc. It was almost as if the Slytherin girl had thought of this relationship as competition, with Alex as the first place prize. Only in the end Lacey had won, her pretend little battle with Thalia finished. Before Alex had broke her heart she didn't mind Lacey, she just thought that it was an unfair fight and really didn't hate her as others had concluded. Alex must have whispered something to little Lacey about Thalia looking over in their direction. Because, turning gracefully two bright blue eyes met her chocolate brown ones. She giggled lightly and turned back to Alex, flipping her long blonde hair in the process. Thalia glanced away so no one would notice the tear escaping from her eyes, Did Alex really have to still hurt like this? she thought, quickening her pace to the lawns.
Stifling a yawn as she stepped out, Thalia inhaled the cool air letting it flow through her, washing out all the stress Alex and the end-of year-tests were putting on her. Few others lingered around the lawns in their small isolated house groups, but Thalia had no intention of joining in on any of the posies. Really though. Separating yourselves into groups of houses isn't going to intimidate others and actually you don't gain anything other than only being able to socialize in your protected house group. Thalia thought, as she slipped around different enclosed island of students. Twilight was almost over and the number of students lingering out on the grass dwindled. Probably heading inside the warm castle for dinner or up to their dormitories. Having no appetite for food after the encounter with Alex and Lacey, Thalia was planing to skip dinner. She walked out farther into the courtyard, the dewed grass tickling her ankles as she advanced.
A small red haired girl sat alone, staring up at the dusty sky scattered with stars. Spotting her there, Thalia quietly walked over to her. Normally she would have kept to herself, but at the moment she wanted someone to at least have a small conversation with. As she drew closer she distinguished the bouncy red curls to belong to none other than Lily Potter, another fellow fifth year. Thalia had no problem with Gryffindors, unlike some of her house mates. She respected all houses and was not hostile toward anyone unless threatened. She had seen Lily in some of her classes and proceeded to sit down lightly next to the Gryffindor girl, smiling nicely. Lily still was staring up at the stars with a content happy look planted on her face. Following her gaze, Thalia too turned her head to stare up at the twinkling stars. "So, not hungry for dinner today?" Thalia questioned the girl with a grin, her eyes now transfixed on the now beautiful moonlight star strewn sky.

THE SKY IS DARKENING, the trees on the school grounds cast long shadows on the school’s west wing. The grey stones of the school looked magical with the orange sunset falling on them; ivy clung like a child to their mother on the stones and small puddles of water lay scattered from last nights rain. Callie lay relaxed on her bed her breathing even and her eyes shut. Her favorite book was on her stomach, where she’d put it down after reading a few chapters. She was so tired of studying for end-of-term exams, she still had three essays to write and one astronomy chart to fill out. But instead of dinner in the great hall, she couldn’t stand the noisy mess hall now, she wanted to relax alone in her bed.
After another moment of quiet Callie sighed and swung her legs off her bed and rubbed her eyes. She knew she needed to do something besides lay around, if she wasn’t studying she should do something worthwhile. She decided to go down to the lawns to take a walk. She smiled at the memory of her last ground excursion, there she’d met Lily Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. Of course she’d already knew who they were but she’d talked to them like they’d knew each other forever. Now they saw each other in the halls and Callie often saw Lily and Scorpius together they hung out together and looked guilty whenever Callie caught them looking at each other.
Callie was out on the grounds now, her brown hair looked a lot lighter in the sun. The grass was green and she felt good out in the sun. Callie knew she was pale, she didn’t like going outside much. The sky was a dark color, she walked down to the larger part of the grounds and spied a familiar figure. “Lily!” Callie said in astonishment, her voice didn’t travel far, because Lily didn’t seem to notice anything. Callie was pretty sure it was Lily, the girl had the same petite figure and flaming red curls. Another red-head was sitting on the ground next to where Lily lay, arms behind head. She looked like a fifteen-year-old, Lily’s age. Callie smiled and made her way towards the two girls, she felt a little nervous at meeting the new girl but she was looking forward to talk to Lily again.
Callie made her feet move towards the two girls staring at the sky speckled with glowing stars. The scene was somewhat melancholy she thought, it reminded her of summers long ago where she, and all her friends hung out around her small muggle town. Here all her friends weren’t really that genuine, just the see in halls and never on weekends type. As Callie approached the two redheaded girls she smiled and said. “Hi Lily, hope you don’t mind me joining you.”
