The sun shined brightly outside, despite the early morning fog, bright enough to wake a boy in the Gryffindor Boy's Dorm. The time? The 4th year picked up the watch on the small drawer beside his bed and strapped it on his wrist. Good, only a little past six. Eric had a bit of time to listen to his music.
What? Can't a guy listen to some music without being bothered? Only in a T-shirt and long, black flannel pants, he quickly and quietly grabbed his CD Player and headed down the stair to the the Gryffindor Common Room. It was a tad messy, probably from some squabble last night, but nothing seemed broken, just out of place.
He sat on a crimson red couch and sighed to himself loudly. It was good to relax. Eric carefully placed the earphones on his head and hit 'play' on the CD Player. Instantly, classical music hummed into his ears peacefully. He rested his head back and closed his eyes. Such a lovely sound....

I HAVE OFTEN DREAMED OF A FAR OFF PLACE WHERE A HERO'S WELCOME WOULD BE WAITING FOR ME• • • • • • • • • NO ONE COULD BE SURE that little Lily Potter wasn't getting into the habit of being an insomniac. Or maybe that wasn't the correct term. Either way, she had gotten into the habit of working on her piling homework until late into the night, probably about three or four a.m., and then just dozing off over her books. Lately, she had been one of the last ones left in the common room. Her family and friends were getting worried about her when they'd find her asleep in an armchair with her face pressed up against a textbook or scroll or parchment that she'd been working on, ink smudged onto her cheek occasionally, and even Scorpius had expressed concern the last time they'd secretly met when he'd noticed the dark spots under her eyes.
Even so, the fact remained that O.W.L.s were quickly approaching, that all of her Professors seemed to think that the class they taught was the only one she was taking, and that they would therefore give ridiculous amounts of homework. All the fifth years probably had the same amount of work, but most of them preferred to study in large groups in the library or courtyard or out in the grounds. Lily, however, only found this distracting, seeing as just about none of them actually wanted to work on their assignments. So she had taken to working alone in the common room, where she could be sure that she'd get the work done to her potential.
The only problem was that she kept falling asleep.
That particular night, she had been curled up in an extraordinarily comfortable armchair by the fire, working on an essay for potions, a pink blanket thrown over her. She had been nearly done with her essay when she'd fallen asleep, her cheek pressed up against the parchment and her body completely hidden by the blanket. It wasn't until about two hours after she'd fallen asleep that a noise in an adjacent armchair woke her up. The small fifth year raised her head slowly, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Her hair was tousled and there was a small ink stain on her right cheek, but she didn't realize this as she looked up at the boy who had inadvertently woken her up. A glance at a window on the wall told her that the sun was rising, but it was still the musky purple of pre-sunrise twilight. She could have still caught a few more hours of sleep if she wanted, but, since she was up anyway, she may as well have stayed up.
Looking up at the fourth year whom she did not know by name, Lily wondered what he was doing. "Hello," she murmured sleepily, sitting upright in the armchair and drawing her knees to her chest.

Listening to soothing music was surely calming, but being interrupted wasn't. He almost made a rude remark to his senior, but bit it back, thinking it might upset her and affect the rest of his day.
" Oh, hi, " Eric replied, taking off the headphones and pausing his music. From the looks of it, she had been finishing up some kind of homework before giving into sleep. But didn't students usually finish it during the day when it was more convenient? Or was the homework for a 5th Year really that hard? Either way, she should be sleeping in a comfortable bed, instead of using parchment for a pillow.
(( OOC: Oh noes! Am I supposed to have that thingy at the end of my post, too? >.< ))
