LILY LUNA POTTER
[/b]hey!
my name is pinky, or broken coda. i love this site - i found it on fountain of fair fortune. i also love roleplaying. in fact, i've been roleplaying for about six years!
the character i am going to roleplay is lily luna potter, but you can call her lily. she is fifteen years old and in her fifth year. she is true to the house of gryffindor. this character has red hair and brown eyes. Appearances are generally no indication of one's soul, of what one truly is or has become. With Lily, however, that general implication is true - she appears to be small and shy, an innocent girl with no knowledge of the world. And, in reality, that's what she is.
Her hair color is common among Weasley's, but the Potter genes in Lily have made hers slightly different. From afar it seems like the traditional flaming red, but when examined closer, one would find that its true hue lies somewhere between a golden-orange and a bright shade of fiery red; it all depends on the lighting. Wavy, thick and always coming loose when she ties it up, her hair falls limply down to her shoulders, perhaps a bit lower, and is choppily layered from her bangs down, somewhat uneven but constant. At times, the thick red strands remain simply wavy; at other times , they settle in loose waves. Usually, however, they can also curl into ringlets, the ends sometimes curling slightly into little 'q's. Her bangs fall from her hairline down to the corners of her eyes, parted at the right and sometimes falling over her eyes and blocking them from ones view; sometimes, she sweeps them to the side and pins them up there. When she was younger, her hair was a blazing orange, brighter than it is now, the color of a smoldering sunset; it lightened slightly as she grew older, though, and now resembles a vivid strawberry blonde color. If one were to get up and smell her hair, one would find that it smelled lightly of strawberries and jasmine. Usually, Lily's hair is let out, without much care put into styling it.
Her silky hair frames a round face, childlike in appearance. Her cheekbones are neither too low nor too high, but placed near the height of the end of her nose, which is small and button-like, slightly upturned at the end. Her lips are pale and thin, usually gracing her features with a grin. Her cheeks, although pale, usually hold a rosy tint when she's flustered, excited, or angry. Her small, delicate facial features make her seem small and pixie-like. Usually, her face and skin is natural - it is a very rare occasion for her to dote lip-gloss, eyeshadow, mascara, blush, eyeliner, et cetera. Her cheeks are round and childlike, leading down to a rounded chin that is obviously that of a child's rather than an adult's. When she smiles, one dimple can be seen in each cheek, the indent making her seem even more childlike in appearance.
Lily's eyes are, by far, her greatest weapon (other than her wand, of course). Her eyes are large and round, framed with naturally thick eye-lashes. They are brilliant hues of brown, from shades of chocolate and russet, to auburn and sepia, and sometimes even a rust color. There could be no one name to assign to the various shades that change depending on her moods and the lighting. If one were to look closely, one wold find that, amidst the bright pools of brown, paler speckles dot her arises. Her eyes lay out all her emotions for the world to see - her eyes are, truly, the windows to her soul. Just by looking at them, one would know what she was thinking. Their color, and her hair, cause her to resemble her mother more than her father.
Anyone who would look upon her body would know instantly that she was built more for speed and balance, rather than strength and endurance. Too bad her speed can barely last due to her poor balance. She's not heavily built, nor voluptuous and curvy. Instead, she has a plain thin body, with a flat chest and only a slightly narrow waist, giving her the overall appearance of a young, prepubescent girl. It's not a body that would turn heads, and her height doesn't help that fact either. She stands at a grand total of four feet and nine inches, much shorter than nearly all of her peers, although it may be due to the fact that she has not yet hit puberty and is still awaiting a growth spurt. She's not that heavy either, her weight fluctuating between a healthy eighty and ninety pounds. Due to that, and her height, she's not exactly gaunt; her sparse curves somehow manage to be soft, other than her protruding collar bones and back bones. Her frame is delicate-looking and petite, her arms thin and frail, her hands small with thin, short fingers. Her small size gives her an advantage, however, by making her quick, agile, and light, although she's far too clumsy to let that speed last for more than a few moments before she ends up tripping over her own two feet. Her skin color, as mentioned before, is a controversy - it is generally a pale ivy tone that bruises easily, making her appear sickly and accompanying her scrawny stature, but it is dotted with pale freckles. Her cheeks are usually flushed a light shade of coral or pink, leaving no need to use blush or makeup of any kind.
Her style of clothing and accessories vary, but mostly depend on the season. At school, she wears the uniform without adjustment, along with the accompanying robes; outside of that, however, she doesn't necessarily have a 'style,' so to speak. If one were to classify her style of clothing, it would be scattered through many areas, whereas she is usually seen in whatever she dubs comfortable. Sometimes she can be seen in jeans, basketball shorts, sweatpants, cargo pants, etc, while at other times, she might just wear a loose calf-length dress or skirt. Her hair, although rarely in any style other than let straight out, can seldom be adorned with a simple headband, ribbon, or barrette. On her feet are usually sneakers or boots, and during the warmer months, flip-flops and sandals.
lily has a very complicated personality. here, i'll explain it to you: Anxious, eager, happy, intelligent, yet shy and kind... What more can you expect from a girl like Lily?
She has a loud personality, but it's as if the volume is on mute. When she first meets someone, she is shy and quiet beyond belief, always nervous about the impression she is giving off. She will speak very little, making her responses seem like curt retorts. Around people she knows and is comfortable around, however, she can be very outgoing and cheerful. It all really depends on who she is around, where she is, and how many people are there. Although her personality can be very different based on who she's around, there are some attributes about her that never change. She always does her best, no matter what she's doing, and tries her absolute hardest. Whether it's an old friend or a complete stranger, she tries to please everyone. She tends to worry about everyone around her, and puts them before herself. She wants people to like her and worries about what everyone thinks of her, always striving to help other.
Her appearance gives off a frail, innocent, and clueless effect, which, in fact, is true. She knows very little about how hard the real world can be, and there are many things she does not understand. Most innuendos or other such comments go right over her head, others laughing while she remains confused. She's naive, which tends to annoy others at points, but mostly makes others want to protect her.
One thing about her that sets her apart from most people is her courage, commitment, and values. She is brave beyond anyone else her age or size. When she starts something, she sticks to it until the very end. She is firm about her beliefs, and it takes a lot to waver her opinion. When her mind is set to something, she will carry it out until the task has been fulfilled, and there is very little that can change that. Whether its her beliefs, values, or ideas, she'll stick with it. Consequences mean nothing to her as long as she's doing what she believes is right, what her heart tells her.
Openly warm, her mentality is somewhat abstract, as she has an affinity to be a dreamer at times. Her emotional state, as she 'wears her heat on her sleeve,' causes her to be somewhat reactive to things that hurt her, expressing her emotions easily and being hurt, becoming happy, etc., easily, but also easily getting over it and returning to her generally content state of mind. Despite her initial shy demeanor, she is lively and expedient if she believes it is right, and is, if possible, imaginative in a practical way. Despite this, Lily is easily made apprehensive, but her own actions and decisions cause her to be this way. She is impulsive - which may have been the key reasoning behind her being sorted into Gryffindor - and rarely thinks before acting, only following her gut reactions, the consequences of this causing her to be vulnerable and easily hurt, her emotions on display for the world to see. Trust comes easily to her - she earns it just as easily as she places it in others, for she believes that everyone is good, they just deserve a chance to prove themselves. This is also another reason why she tends to get hurt often - others take advantage of her trust and vulnerability, on top of the fact that most could easily overpower her physical being.
Bespite constantly being taken advantage of, she is honest and keeps her integrity, never going back on her word. Courtesy is another trait she possesses - she is thoughtful of others and sensitive to their emotions and feelings, almost always able to sympathize with them. Despite this, she is quite dense to the emotions of others when aforementioned 'other' is flustered, nervous, or experiencing something she can't relate to.
She is generally responsible, always following through with her duties, and works well with others, given that said others are cooperative with her. She is loyal, showing her allegiance to people and things easily, devoted to her family, friends, and the other important people in her life, which is the reason she was almost nearly sorted into Hufflepuff. But then again, who wouldn't be loyal to their families? She is enthusiastic, as well, having a strong affinity towards people just as they are drawn to her kind, caring nature, and shows an eagerness and willingness to work with others. She is open-minded, receptive and interested genuinely in the opinions and ideas of others - she loves to hear what others say.
Self-control isn't one of the traits Lily Luna possesses, in her actions and feelings, anyway. As mentioned previously, she is quite impulsive, and her emotions are displayed in all her impulsive actions - one would have to be extremely dense not to see what she was feeling. She is also not initiative - intentionally, anyway - most of the time, preferring to let others take the glory by starting movements and actions. Her impulsive actions, however, sometimes cause her to initiate things, although she never usually means to.
Compassion is another of her big traits - she has compassion beyond the amount of compassion any human being should have, and can often be seen crying with someone who is hurt, laughing with someone who is happy, comforting someone who is sad. She can't bear to hear a kitten mewling, or a child crying, or someone being yelled at, and often feels their emotions as her own and proceeds to comfort them. Because of this, she tends to cry often and easily, at every small hurt or unkindness, and she hates it - she hates how easily she cries and wishes her tears wouldn't betray her emotions so often. Little does she know that most would know her emotions even without her tears.
Her values set her apart from others - she tends to strive for the betterment of the world, nearly always. She works to help others, and is often involved in helping other people in a direct way, and has a lot of day-to-day contact with the other residents of her town. She works with others well, having close relationships with many and establishing friendships where none would spring otherwise. She isn't, by nature, a competitive person, and tends to avoid engaging in activities that pit her abilities against those of others when there are clear win-and-lose outcomes. She doesn't make decisions well, either, and is actually a very indecisive person, never able to decide on one course of action when she actually does stop to think about it.
She is friendly and caring, and, despite wanting others to like her, never bases herself on anyone else's opinions or changes herself because others don't like her. She loves to be her own person, and she is, by nature, a very strange person with odd habits. The first thing someone would notice about her is that she is extremely shy. Although she appears simple, she is much more complicated than many people get to know. When she gets to know someone, however, she is cheerful and friendly, to a reasonable extent. Lily knows when it is not the time to cheer, and as far as intelligence in school related areas goes - she is, although not the top in her classes, somewhat above average -, she is quite dense when it comes to anything else; she doesn't possess the best common sense in the world either. On a normal day, Lily is very clumsy, tending to run into things or tripping and falling. Occasionally, she sobers down a bit, particularly when she feels like a nuisance or that people are always protecting her, such as in the case of her family; she feels as if she was a burden to them and often finds herself thinking that they might be happier if she wasn't around.
Despite her conflicting personality, many parts of her being are consistently consistent. Her openness allows an appreciation for art, emotion, unusual ideas, imagination, and curiosity, while her conscientiousness allows her to aim for achievement in relation to her often spontaneous behavior - she is full of ideas, has a vivid imagination, spends time reflecting on things, and often comes up with abstract ideas. Her extroversion allows her to seek stimulation and the company of others - she pays attention to details, tries not to make messes of things, although it often results in quite the opposite, and avoids shirking her duties, she is comfortable around others, starts conversations, and has much to say once you get her talking. - and her agreeableness causes her to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic towards others - she is interested in people, feels others' emotions as if they were her own, has a soft heart, makes others feel at ease, easily sympathizes with others, puts others before herself, and often feels overwhelming concern for the problems of others. Neuroticism may also be considered one of her personality traits, as she experiences unpleasant emotions easily, but is balanced out as she experiences contrastingly pleasant emotions just as easily.
Lily is also an accident child. She is prone to danger, and is very clumsy and quick to react. She is extremely accident prone, and ends up tripping on her own feet most of the time if there's nothing else to trip over. She is absentminded and a dreamer - an idealist in all forms - and has a short attention span. One thing she can always concentrate on, however, is cooking. She loves to cook and bake, and just to make food out of nothing, as if it appeared by magic. Conversely, she would rather make food from scratch then conjure it by magic. And she loves to fly, to have the feeling of being free. It's about the only thing she can do without falling.
Despite her own naivety and scatter-brained-ness, the small girl is very sensitive to the feelings of others. Often, she can associate with their feelings, and feels them as if she were in their place. She cries with others, smiles with them, laughs with them - it's just in her nature to feel for other people, and she often has no control over when a wave of someone else's emotions will wash over her and draw tears.
And dancing, too - Lily absolutely loves to dance. While she dances, it's as if she's in a completely different world. She grew to love dancing, and is quite a bit good at it. It is unfortunate, however, that she is inclined to be controlled by her nerves, which fill her mind every time an opportunity for public dancing comes up; she still continues to do it in her free time, though.
Essentially, anyone who has met her at least once knows her amiable, agreeable nature - but most of all, they know that the small girl wears her heart on her sleeve. It can be damaged, so to speak, during daily, everyday activities, and her emotions are expressed easily, despite how hard she tries to hide them. One can't help but see how she feels, and things generally get to her and affect her easily. Despite this, and despite that one might think that someone who expresses his or her emotions so easily wouldn't be able to let go of negative feelings and unhappiness, Lily would prove them all wrong - quite the opposite, she lets negative feelings go before they can burden her, or at least tries to. Sometimes, though, they do end up burdening her, and the poor girl is left wondering what she has done wrong. By displaying her emotions so easily, many people often take advantage of her many intricate and complex emotions that she displays so openly; in the end, as it almost always ends, she ends up getting hurt, and then forgiving and allowing a second chance.
If there's one thing she likes to do other than dancing, however, it's singing. When singing, her voice is clear and soft, not the normal quiet stutter she normally speaks with. For her, it is far easier to express herself through singing than through speaking, through allowing her voice to reach high crescendos and drop to decrescendos. She developed a love of singing when she started writing musics - that is, songs. From a very young age, she started to write songs, and after that, singing them came naturally. Often, she'll accompany her singing by playing her guitar, which she also loves to do.
She has a good heart and a strong unyielding will. Her small size makes her very quick and agile. Sometimes, Lily's kindheartedness makes her too trusting of people, which could lead to her ultimate downfall. She isn't very strong, but knows how to take care of herself. Most of the time, she doesn't understand the situations she throws herself into without thinking, but she doesn't underestimate her opponents. She is openly afraid of many things, although she often tries to hide it.
Although many people may bully her and disregard her because of her scrawny build, she still manages to keep her innocence and amiability in tact, two of her more appealing qualities. This, however, makes her easy prey. She is often pushed around and roughened into situations she'd rather not be involved in, as well. On top of that, she is extraordinarily clumsy, usually tripping over her own feet; sadly, she has a habit of falling onto her face when she does. Gravitation seems to favor her face being attracted to the ground. She is very accident prone.
Despite that, Lilyis a sweet and gentle soul, generally likable and friendly, with many qualms about saying 'no.' She isn't judgmental and tends to think the best of people, which can often land her in trouble. She has always been almost childish in her naivety, far too trusting. She is stubborn in her beliefs, too narrow-minded for her own good, which she gets from her mother. For the most part, however, Lily acts her age: young. She is quite innocent and can become nervous and embarrassed easily.
One of her most very admirable traits is that she is almost always honest and genuine. The only time she doesn't tell the truth, with very few exceptions, is when she wants to keep others from worrying about her. Her innocence and naivety makes it seem as if she wouldn't be able to keep secrets, but when entrusted with one, she does her absolute best to keep it from others.
One of Lily's best attributes is her compassionate, loving, affectionate, understanding and accepting nature. She is compassionate and thinks of others always before herself, never swaying or hesitating when it comes to supporting and remaining loyal to the ones she loves. She tries her hardest always to see how her own actions will affect others so she doesn't hurt anyone, and the accepting and considerate part of Lily makes her able to relate to others easily. She might be somewhat shy, but this girl will never hesitate to try and comfort even a stranger if she sees them upset.
Nonetheless, she is a very emotional person, unable to disguise her often passionate feelings. She often acts impulsively, though this seems to hurt her more often than not, and consequences don't matter to her if she is doing what she believes in. She is extremely loyal and dedicated to all her friends and family. Her loyalties are deep, and cannot be explained by word but, rather, are controlled by an almost instinctual part of her subconscious. When she is roused, rational thinking goes out the door.
Another of her weak points is when she is put in a situation in which she needs to work under pressure; usually, situations like these will end up in disaster - she can only produce quality results in anything she does when she does it on her own time, at her own pace, in a comfortable environment. Producing music, for example - she's been offered many times a contract with a semi-major record label, but refused each time because she knows that if she accepted, she wouldn't be able to do what she loved the way she loved to do it anymore. It wouldn't be her music, her songs - it would be theirs, made and produced the way they wanted it to be made and produced. She tends to fear and cower before authority figures, including but not limited to the police, teachers, etc., and cannot control what others do at all, intentionally. She is in no way in a position to influence others intentionally, and most times does it unintentionally, just through her kind words and impulsive actions.
For someone normally so easygoing, her ferocity in battle is unusual. When enraged, she is truly an imposing figure; although, when she does get angry, she is usually not taken seriously because she happens to cry when angry. She was never the type to sit back and watch idly; her impulses guide her into action, no matter how reckless or foolish. This contrast with her polite, happy side is almost bizarre. She is always willing to fight for the sake of others, even those she doesn't know, so long as she believes in their cause. She is also incredibly motivated, willing to work unceasingly for a personal cause.
When enraged or deeply believing in something, she acts of her own accord. She will not hesitate to break or bend rules if she supports the cause; this, however, often lands her in trouble. Despite this, she does not enjoy being the life of the party and the center of attention, but she tends to stand back in the shadows. Her frequent escapades and passionate beliefs often land her in trouble.
Although the young girl isn't overly bold or forward, she's quite a bit curious. She asks questions very often, for there is so very much that she wonders about; sometimes, she may even ask a stranger a question if it is bothering her enough. She constantly wonders, and worries, about many things, and enjoys musing on various different topics.
Despite the complicated tangled mass of a personality she possessed, she is quite easy to read, especially by those who know her. Just like everyone else, she smiles when she's happy, cries when she's sad. Anger usually brings tears to her eyes, and over-whelming joy causes her to laugh cheerfully. Really, she's just like everyone else -- nothing special, just plain old Lily.
As the youngest child in her family, Lily is frequently being spoiled by her brothers and parents. They care for her, protect her, and nurture her every whim; thus, she feels as if she owes them. Also, Lily is very forgiving. Usually she passes off negative comments with a shaky giggle as she always tries to be friendly, unless the comment personally hurt her; then she will impose her wrath upon the inflicter.
Lily is easily 'made to do' a lot of things - that is, she experiences emotions easily. She is easily made nervous [which in turn gets her easily confused], easily startled / frightened / scared, easily convinced of lies, easily depressed, easily saddened, easily worried, and constantly second-guesses herself. To start [and the girl doesn't quite know why], whenever she gets nervous it's impossible for her to pay attention to what's going on, let alone listen to anyone. This often gets her into trouble and she can't stand it, so she avoids high-stress situations at all costs. Only if she's made to will she do anything really daring, though she's open to doing most other things.
In correspondence with the previously mentioned trait of the young girl, her fear quite easily controls her. It controls her, far more than fear should ever control any one person. When she's really truly scared, she can't move. It chokes her, even, and she has to fight it just to breath, almost like she's having an asthma attack of sorts. She can't move, can't scream, and can't defend herself - worst case scenario. Lily does her best to hide her fears from others. However, this is difficult, as she is scared by the simplest things, and unable to stand up for herself.
As mentioned before, Lily is ridiculously clumsy. She'd trip over a blade of grass if it hit her toe the wrong way. The same goes for air. Atop being clumsy, she is forgetful. Remembering what she had for breakfast is hard enough, and though important memories will stay with her forever she finds it hard to recall more recent things. Also stated before, the girl is a ridiculous perfectionist. She doesn't mind the flaws of others, but cannot stand to see them in herself. She will go to any length to 'fix' them, always assuming that, in one form or another, she's got something wrong with her, and she feels as if she needs to fix them to please others.
She is compassionate, imaginative, reflective, and an idealist; also, she is expressive, in her own quiet, unobtrusive way, and lives up to her beliefs and values, while developing an emotional understanding of the world around her. As an idealist, she dreams of making the world a better place, of living in harmony and peace, and she longs to change the world for the better. Often, she can find meaning in her surroundings that have things about them otherwise unseen by anyone. She sees life as a wonderful mystery, her quest being to figure it out.
Criticism is often taken personally by her, and can usually hurt her easily-hurt feelings, even if it was intended to be constructive. She can adapt easily to changing circumstances, usually, and is prone to believe that people have changed just by their word, always allowing a second chance. She loves to acquire knowledge and finds something of interest in most subjects.
As for friendships, she prefers to have a few close and deep ones, as she feels most alone in large crowds. Due to this, and her claustrophobia, she often escapes away from large crowds.
She is, indeniably, quite 'normal' in many aspects, but there are certain things that set her apart from others, that make her different. She doesn't care about things other girls care about - being popular, make-up, clothes, boys - but rather, just cares about being herself. If there is someone she can't be herself to, she will, unless it somehow hurts their feelings, try to avoid being with that person, and will try to avoid confrontations even more. It's not that she doesn't like that person, it's just that, if she can't be herself with him or her, then he or she is probably of high-standing and can determine her future in the blink of an eye, so to speak. Which, with her music producer and other tech members and higher ranking staff, is exactly the case. It's not that she doesn't like them, but she'd rather they allow her to feel as if she could be herself, lest she make some hideous faux pas or other mistake that will ruin her or someone else. She doesn't want to change - to not be herself - just to get on someone's good side. The way she sees it, if they can't accept her for who she is, then they'd be better off without her. Or at least that's what she tells herself. In truth, she'll try to please whomever it is that she can't be herself around, but still won't change herself.
In regards to optimism, one might think that Lily's glass is always half-full. Most of the time, she acts as if it is, but in reality, she just sees the contents of 'the glass' as, well, the contents of the glass. There's something in it, right? It may not have as much as one might want, but at least there was something, even if it left room for more want, more need. To her, as long as there's something in the glass, so to speak, even if it's just a drop, she's happy. That may seem as if her glass is always half full, but at times, it may seem half empty - despite the fact that it's already been explained that it only matters if there's at least something in the glass. Although, it's never 'half-empty' for her. Just for others, when she sees someone sad, or crying, or in pain. Then, she wishes that she could give their 'glass' some of the contents of hers, so to speak, to make them happy. If they try to push her away, however, when she tries to offer some of her happiness to fill up their glass, then she may get hurt, and easily, too, and avoid that person for a short amount of time, until she realizes that their need is more dire than hers.
She doesn't hold grudges - it's just impossible for her. She may get really upset at some point about something someone did or said, but after an hour, at most, of thinking about it, she'll just go and apologize, even if it wasn't her fault.
Most find her easy to become friends with and talk to, as she understands most emotions and will try to help others be happy as much as she can. Because of this, however, some people try to fool her, and it usually works, and help them do wrong or other such things. Whenever she realizes this, she is usually very hurt, but will still trust them, offering them the second chance they were never given before. Many find that she's like the adorable little sister they can talk to about anything, and the innocence she radiates in her warm smile and large amethyst eyes makes them feel the need to protect her, and makes them feel as if they're drawn to her.
Most can tell upon first meeting her that she possesses a gentle, patient, malleable nature and has many generous qualities that allow her to be friendly, good natured, kind and compassionate. She is sensitive to those around her, and can often pick up on how others feel immediately. In such cases, she will respond with the utmost sympathy and tact to any suffering she encounters. Many people tend to be drawn to her due to her easy going, affectionate, submissive nature, and she generally offers no threat or challenge to stronger and more exuberant characters. She can easily accept those around her and when thrown in a situation she doesn't agree with, if trying to extricate herself has failed, she will simply adapt, accepting what has happened.
Even so, her nature tends to be too otherworldly for the practical purposes of living in this world as it is. She usually exists and acts emotionally rather than rationally, instinctively more than intellectually, impulsively rather than thinking things through. She dislikes confinement, but is generally submissive; any rebellion that she does make, however, is personal, for the betterment of the general public.
Despite this, she tends to withdraw into a dream world where her qualities can bring satisfaction. She is versatile and intuitive, has a quick understanding for most things, and observes and listens well. She is also receptive to new ideas and atmospheres; all these factors combine and produce a remarkable creativity in her music, which is evident every time she sings or plays guitar.
As most can figure out upon meeting her, Lily is usually never egotistical in her personal relationships and gives more than she asks for from friendships. She is delicate and innocent in these matters, and is easily hurt when betrayed, although she can also just as easily forgive. Even if she is betrayed countless times, she is intensely loyal and will remain faithful most times.
She's gullible, easily tricked, duped, and fooled. Lily is agreeable and open to experience, and always tries to find the good side of everyone.
Overall, Lily Luna Potter is like a tree - blossoming at certain points, dying out at other times, but never stopping to grow until her branches scrape the sky.
lily has also been through a lot in her life. i'll tell you a little about it: Like that of most, Lily's history starts off with her parents. Harry Potter and Ginerva Weasley met at a young age, but it wasn't until Harry's sixth year that he started to have feelings for his best friend's sister. He soon found out that his object of affection felt the same way about him, but their relationship was put on a hiatus because of the Great War. Afterwards, however, when the Dark Lord was gone and the wizarding world was at peace once more, the two married. They first had a son, whom they named 'James Sirius,' after Harry's father and god-father, and then they had another son, named 'Albus Severus,' named after two great Headmasters of Hogwarts. Two years later, however, they had their first and only daughter, Lily Luna Potter.
Lily was born on March 20th, an early Spring day when the sun was shining and the flowers were blossoming. From the moment she first opened her eyes, revealing amber-brown irises, and from the shock of red hair on her head, her parents could guess that she had inherited traits from the Weasley side of the family. And as she grew, her hair becoming brighter and her skin becoming frecklier, everyone knew that this initial prediction would stay true to itself, and she would henceforth be more easily classified as a 'Weasley' than as a 'Potter.'
Lily's childhood was a happy one, with her family - aunts, uncles, and many cousins included. This was good, though; she liked having her family there almost all the time, whenever she needed them, and even when she didn't. She grew up with a sort of fondness of being surrounded by people, influencing her personality as she would grow up, for there was a great variety of personality traits around her as she grew up. Her parents were both caring and kind, warm and sincere in all their actions, as were her aunts and uncles. From her Uncle Ron she inherited a sort of insecurity, as if she didn't live up to her family's expectations; from Aunt Hermione she received a love of learning and some book-smarts, although she is not nearly as bright as Hermione was in her third year. But her brothers and cousins were the ones who possessed the big medley of traits, some of them being jovial and caring, clever and kind, impassive yet warm. Lily was often told that, being the youngest of all her cousins, she was a combination of all of them: somewhat bright and very amiable, cheery and whimsical; and also that she picked up characteristics of her own: sheepish and adamant, yet somehow naive and emotional, carefree vulnerable in her deep emotions. She was just a big mess of things, a small creature easily influenced and picking up traits from everyone she met. A big jumble of things, complicated and complex. She can still remember wishing that, when she was told this, she were more simple, less deep. That she would be like everyone else and wouldn't stand out with her bright orange hair and freckly-yet-somehow-pale skin. She was just too different, and from a young age, she started to resent that.
Despite her secret acrimony towards these things, her childhood was a happy one, carefree and cheerful, just as she was. The family of five was close-knit, and would often spend time with relatives and family friends, or go on picnics and walks and such.
One of Lily's favorite family gatherings, however, was always Quidditch games. She started to love Quidditch at an early age, particularly because both her parents had played and her mother had decided to pursue it as a career after Hogwarts. From a young age, both her brothers would play a sort of downgraded version of Quidditch with her, and she received her first broom - a Junior Cleansweep - at the age of five. Playing with her brothers was always fun, although they were always closer to each other than they were to her, probably because she was a girl and the youngest, and they might have seen that as a reason to keep her protected and sheltered. She was very close with her cousins, too, particularly Hugo, who knew how she felt about having older siblings and parents whose expectations they would have to meet.
When she was seven, her oldest brother went off the Hogwarts, and the following year, her other brother went as well. She was left alone without her siblings then, and, as much as she begged her parents to let her go to Hogwarts too, she had to wait two more years before she received her letter. When she did receive it, however, she was ecstatic.
That August, the family found themselves in Diagon Alley, where Lily received her first pet, a small pygmy owl with russet feathers and amber eyes. She was originally drawn to it because of its small size and adorable-looking stature, but she soon grew to love it for more than just appearances. She named it 'Minerva,' after a goddess in muggle mythology who had a wise old owl of her own.
And the following September, little Lily was off on the Hogwarts express, accompanied by both siblings and various cousins.
Although she was excited for what awaited her there, the Sorting Ceremony was excruciating. Her last name had her waiting there on line for a while as other students were sorted, and for a terrible fearful moment, she feared that she wouldn't fit in any of the given houses. She would be an outcast, the only known Hogwarts student to not be in a house. When the sorting hat was placed on her head, however, her fears were alleviated as it debated between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. She herself hoped more for Gryffindor, seeing as most of her family had been in that house, but she supposed that Hufflepuff wouldn't be bad anyway. At last, it decided on Gryffindor, and she went to sit at the long Gryffindor table, where students sat clapping, beside her eldest brother and various cousins.
Hogwarts was as great as she had expected, Lily soon found out; she just had to learn how to keep her curiosity in check and not go wandering off. She did, however, soon find out that both her brothers broke various rules on a daily basis usually, but she knew that she herself could never get away with it. She was too shy, too intimidated by many things to do any drastic rule-breaking. What's more, she found that both her brothers had reputations there, and each held a position on the Quidditch team for his own house. Although she wanted to try out for Quidditch, the fear of not making it onto the team kept her from trying, and, now in her fifth year, that same fear keeps her from doing that among many other things. For now, however, she'd just like to live her life and take one day at a time, never knowing what the future holds for her.
still don't think i deserve to be accepted? well, i've got an rp sample that'll rock your sox off!!! The wind was a soft, tender whisper through the night, brushing the young girl's cheek softly in passing. It came from the south, where the river lay, undisturbed in the darkness of the night, and went towards the north, toward which the small girl faced at the moment. Her dark hair blew lightly in the wind, the darkness bringing out its amethyst tints, and she raised a hand to push the strands back, only for them to be blown back onto her face. Bright violet eyes grazed over the layout of land that lay so peacefully below her, passing over each of the headstones the jutted out of the land in arranged order -- rows and rows of headstones beneath which hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of motionless bodies lay, with their unseeing eyes and still hands. So many beings gathered in this one spot... yet, none of them would ever again see day.
It was curious how Mirany had picked this particular night to visit the cemetery. It was far from a perfect night -- sure, there were stars glittering high in the sky with a sparkling radiance, curled in ribbons around the bright sliver of the waning crescent that was the moon. The breeze was neither strong nor cold, but carried a certain touch of potential energy, as if something great would happen on this night -- as if it needed to prepare itself. The sky itself was a dark curtain of velvety black, stars littered across its surface. Yet, everything was far from perfect, for the natural beauty of the night was hidden behind haze of clouds, and a mist had settled around the surface of the cemetery, causing the passing light of the moon to bathe everything in an eerie glowing light. So, why was it that the young girl had chosen such a creepy night to visit a place so depressing?
Even she herself knew not.
The night was calm, the quiet stillness and silence enveloping the vicinity of soul-less bodies, not with a serene sense of security, but with a smothering restlessnes -- as if something were going to happen, and the late night fog had done the perfect job of setting the scene. The moon and stars allowed just enough light for Mirany to see where she was going, but more would have been appreciated. And, despite the spectral quality of the night, it was a rare night -- rare because the light pollution from the nearby city of Tokyo didn't disturb the darkness of the night with its hazy fumes. No, the mist and clouds did that job just fine without help from the light pollution.
So, on a night so macabre, why would a small girl who usually disliked the night go to visit the cemetery on such a night? There was no reason for it: she had never known anyone who was now deceased -- well, anyone whom she had actually known. But maybe she had just felt the need to, or maybe she just needed to get out of the house, and this was the first place she went to.
Even if it was an eerie night full of potential horrors, and even if Mirany hadn't ever known her mother before she had passed away, she left her spot at the top of the hill on whose side the tombstones were placed, and traveled down the rows, picking up a small petunia that had struggled to grow between some bushes. Her mid-calf length pink boots made a small tap with each step she took, and the wind rustled the many gossamer layers of the white knee-length skirt she wore, until she finally stopped in front of one particular headstone -- one on which the name of her mother was inscribed.
Mirany knelt, placed the yellow flower in front of the headstone, and read the words that were engraved into it. They were words that she had read so many times that she had probably had them memorized by now. She had never personally known her mother, but now that she was gone, there was nothing Mirany could do about that, except honor her with a small petunia. Just a small flower for the life that that woman had given Mirany -- it seemed like a terribly selfish trade to Mirany. But, there was just nothing more she could do. Perhaps leaving the house in the dead of the night on a particularly eerie night would count for something.
Speaking of particularly eerie, just as the small Kurosaki girl stood up to leave, a cacophony of screams split through the air, and Mirany tensed, spinning around to face the direction from which it had come. Heart pounding in her throat, the small girl spun towards where it had come from and started running in that direction, acting purely on impulse, for there was nothing she could possible do were she to find some sort of monster there. Her curiosity only grew when a group of kids around her age ran from that direction, expressions of fear on their face, and along with it, Mirany's own fear grew. But she wasn't thinking, so she wasn't exactly aware of it at the moment.
She had reached the top of the hill by the time she stopped to catch her breath, but by then, the sound of the screams were far behind her, newly replaced by the caws of a flock of black birds leaving the area; Mirany shielded herself against them as they flew into the direction from which she had come, raising her forearms against their flurry of ebony feathers. And when they cleared up, the only thing left in their wake was a boy, sitting on the ground, staring at spot from which they had come. Mirany didn't know what she was doing as she walked over to him and held out a small hand to help him up -- for all she knew, he could have been the monster that had caused the previous clamor of shrieks and retreating ravens. But she wasn't one of judge, so, with her hand outstretched to him, she asked in a quiet voice, afraid to disturb the sudden stillness of the night, "Are you all right?"
