It was twilight at Hogwarts castle. The sun was setting and the sky had turned a mix between a startling orange and a soft pink. The diminishing light was casting shadows everywhere and Lucy walked silently down to the lake. It was just after dinner. After a loud, tiring day of her normal life, she needed the peace and serenity of the water lapping up on the bank. She needed to clear her mind and just think. It was now clear that autumn had arrived and in the enclosing darkness, there was a sharp, chilly wind.
Lucy pulled her long, Gryffindor robes more tightly around her and adjusted the red and gold scarf around her neck, tying in a stylish knot. It was then that she realized that down by the lake, there was another figure. Small, but not too petite, she recognized vaguely a Hufflepuff fourth year that she had seen around the school a few times. What was her name again.... Lucy didn't really remember, it was something that started with a 'C'. Lucy knew she wanted to just relax and be alone, but she obviously couldn't do this with someone else around. The feeling was unnerving to know that someone could be watching you.
Moving into a more friendly mood, Lucy briskly approached the girl. "Hi, I'm Lucy." she said, softly, but with a welcoming smile. "I hope I'm not bothering you." she added, politely. She was now at the edge of the water. She watched the water, rolling in silvery black waves towards her and then back.

[/i] Gryffindor/Weasley held her flawless body... show-offy, better-then-everyone-else like. Callie shook her head trying to clear the nasty thoughts, was she jealous? She hoped she wasn't, Callie had no experiance on the green emotion. Her thoughts reeling, Callie sat perfectly still, hoping the last minute of her life had been a dream. She squeezed her eyes shut and concentrated on breathing in and out, waiting and praying that she wouldn't hear that... "Hi, I'm Lucy." A sugary sweet voice said next to Callie. When Callie looked up, she saw a cute round face with dimples, framed by golden locks smiling at her. "I hope I'm not bothering you." She added, sounding politely interested. Fumbling around for something to say, I tripped over my words in my rush to free then from my mouth. "Uhh, hi. I'm Callie. Callie Meyer, and no you're not bothering me. I was just leaving, I mean I'm not leaving 'cause you're here or anything..." Callie blushed and looked away to find Lucy was staring at the dark depths of the lake, an unfathomable expression on her face. Callie hoped Lucy wouldn't laugh at her, that would be awful. She franticly tried to say something and settled on quidditch, she knew Lucy must play on the Gryffindor team. "So, are you exited about this Saterday's match?"[/blockquote][/size][/ul]

When the Hufflepuff girl answered, her voice was small, rushed, and shy. "Oh, you don't have to leave." Lucy told her. In fact, now that she had already met the girl, she didn't want her to leave. What was the point of saying hello to someone, and then they leave so that the relationship never goes further than that? "Oh, well hello Callie." she said when Callie told her her name. She saw Callie blush and she smiled. Not in a way as if making fun of her, just that Callie brought back memories of herself when she was younger. Although Lucy had always been pretty outgoing during her life, there had been a period of time when she was also shy around any Hogwarts student that was the least bit older than her.
The conversation had skidded to an awkward halt at this point. Neither Lucy nor Callie knew what to say. This was unusual for Lucy, but she didn't let it throw her. Sometimes it was just peaceful for two people to stare at the beautiful water of the Black Lake and enjoy it together. However, she didn't think this was going to work, so she tried to think of something that she and Callie had in common. Then, Callie asked her about Quidditch. Lucy sighed happily; Quidditch was at least a subject that she loved to talk about. "Yes, I'm extremely pumped!" she exclaimed. She was always very excited for Quidditch. She even thought that she might want to be a professional Quidditch player when she grew up.
Lucy studied Callie's face more closely. She had straight brown hair a bit longer than her shoulders. Her face had an oval shape to it and her brown eyes were dark and caring. Overall, Callie's features and face were very pretty, but Lucy could not remember if she had seen the face on the Quidditch pitch before. "Do you play Quidditch, also?" she asked Callie, comtemplating on the fact that she could have just forgotten that Callie played Quidditch. Based on Callie's stature, it looked like Callie could be a good Quidditch player. She was petite, but not too small and she was slim, so it would most likely be easy for her to fly quickly. If she doesn't play Quidditch, she should try out... Lucy thought.

Callie saw Lucy smile a little as she assured Callie she didn't have to go, it was kinda funny how Callie's words had come out in such a jumble. Callie smiled back at Lucy, and waited for her to say something. The silence was growing awkward, Callie could tell Lucy was searching for something to say. Callie finally broke the silence with a question about quidditch. Personally, Callie had no interest in the flying-on-broom sport. It looked dangerous and risky, and Callie had a secret fear of heights.
"Yes, I'm extremely pumped!"
That was Lucy, her face was shining and she was smiling with genuine pleasure. She obviously liked quidditch. Callie had to grin a little at Lucy's enthrallment in such a sport, Callie still wondered how anyone could enjoy such risk.
"So do you play quidditch, also?"
Lucy asked Callie, eyes still shining with excitment. She looked really happy, Callie was begining to enjoy herself more also.
"No, I have an aversion to heights."
Callie smiled and imatated fainting from a great height. She liked Lucy, she was fun to be around. Callie thought this might be the friend she'd been looking for... just maybe.

OOC: sorry for the SUPER late reply :[ "No, I have an aversion to heights."
"Oh, that's too bad." she murmured at Callie's reason as to why she didn't like Quidditch too much. Lucy knew that many students at Hogwarts thought that Quidditch was a very risky game and that it was a very dangerous game to play. In a way, those statements were true. Lucy just didn't mind. Usually, you were fine as long as you knew the rules and how to control your body and broom properly. Lucy also personally liked the feeling of adrenaline rushing through her veins and the feeling of not knowing whether you're gonna make it or not. To her, it was just intriguing.
Lucy giggled lightly at Callie's imitation of fainting. She liked this girl, Callie. Lucy could tell that Callie was a nice and caring girl. Although they may not have all the same interests, she could tell that the two of them could easily be very good friends.

Callie smiled at the bubbly fifth year, she seemed nice and she definatally liked quidditch. "Oh, that's too bad." Lucy said, looking seriously deflated. But she looked happy to talk to someone, Callie would have bet nine gold gallions that Lucy was social butterfly. Lucy giggled at Callie's 'faint' and then grew quiet.
It was getting really dark out now. The faint outline of stars were visible against the velvet colored horizen. A single raindrop fell and hit the lake's glassy surface. The lake's calm water was shattered like a piece of glass thrown from a high window. Another raindrop fell from above, hitting the grass this time, and then another hit Callie's head. She looked up at the sky and saw dark clouds creeping towards hogwarts. The clouds were beautiful, it was a rare moment when you could see lightning strung in the clouds like tinsel on a christmas tree. The clouds were a purple-blue color, like a new bruise on pale skin, and thunder rolled in the distance making the two girls shiver.
"We should probably go now," Callie said, having to raise her voice above a sudden boom of thunder. The wind picked up, making the surface of the lake dance and swing like a dancer. The limbs on the trees in the forbidden forest thrashed and cracked violently making Callie flinch. Oh, crap. Callie though suddenly, remembering a key factor in storm saftey. We are on a flat grassy area near trees, with an approaching storm on it's way. Even a three year old knows this is bad!

Lucy decided that she definitely liked Callie. She seemed to be really nice and caring and also had a pretty good sense of humor. She wasn't as outgoing as Lucy was, but she was still delightful to be around. Afterall, Lucy knew that she was a hypocrite, but sometimes she found loud and bubbly people such as herself quite annoying. She liked the more relaxed and reserved vibe that she got from some other people, such as Callie.
The scenery around the two girls was rapidly changing. A few minutes ago, the sky had been a bright orangey pink as a result of the slowly setting sun. The water was glistening with the reflection and all had been peaceful, but the weather had abruptly changed. The sky was now black and brooding, dark purple clouds looming over head and moving in towards Hogwarts. The waters of the Black Lake truly began to show why it had earned its name, the dark ebony waves thrashing around, roughly. A storm was coming.
"We should probably go now."
Lucy heard Callie's voice come out in a barely audible whisper over the now picking up winds. Lucy hastily pulled her robes around her more tightly. "Yeah... that seems like a good idea." she replied with a nervous giggle. She started to head up the hill that led back to the castle, she made sure that Callie was right behind her.
